How to watch
This lecture starts on 30 October at 5:00pm (UK).
Summary
Fez, the first of Morocco’s imperial cities, was for centuries a centre of intellectual and religious scholarship. It drew Jews from across Morocco and from Spain, with which it shared centuries-old ties. Despite periods of persecution, its distinctive Jewish culture endured until the end of the French Protectorate in 1956.
