How to watch
This lecture starts on 23 February at 5:00pm (UK).
Summary
The fascinating saga of Edward VIII (1894–1972) and Mrs Simpson (1896–1986). From one perspective, their relationship can be seen as the great love affair of the last century. From another, their story can be seen as a lucky escape for Britain from having two Nazi sympathisers as king and queen. In this lecture we attempt to get to the truth of a crisis that rocked Britain in the late 1930s.
