Summary
The national collection of British painting is divided between the Tate Britain and the National Gallery with certain paintings going back and forth between the two. The “Golden Age” of British painting is represented by much loved masterpieces by Hogarth (Marriage A-la-Mode that came with the core collection of John Julius Angerstein), Reynolds, Gainsborough, Constable, and Turner.
