How to watch
This lecture starts on 1 December at 5:00pm (UK).
Summary
By 1914, Russia was increasingly unable to deal with internal revolutionary pressures. When war did come, the country momentarily rallied around the Tsar. But such enthusiasm was not enough to survive two years plus of defeats in war. Inevitably, perhaps, revolution therefore broke out in 1917.
