How to watch
Summary
The phrase “Wandering Jew” conjures up many images, meanings, and stories. All are linked with the notion of the displaced outsider and exile of the Jewish people. In this lecture we look at some of the iconic Jewish characters of film and literature ranging from comedy to satire to tragedy. We include Billy Wilder, Herzl, Joseph Roth, 1933 Nazi film clips, and numerous other classics like Tevye, Shylock, Fagin, TS Eliot’s creations, Heine, Groucho, and more.
