One of Paris’s most beloved museums, often compared to the Frick in New York City and the Wallace Collection in London, the Musée Jacquemart-André has just reopened after a year of renovations. Created in the late 19th century by the banker Charles André and his artist wife, Nelie Jacquemart, the collection includes works by Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Frans Hals, Tiepolo, Fragonard, and Chardin, as well as one of the important selections of Renaissance works outside of Italy. Patrick Bade
Patrick Bade is a historian, writer, and broadcaster. He studied at UCL and the Courtauld Institute of Art. He was a senior lecturer at Christie’s Education for many years and has worked for the Art Fund, Royal Opera House, National Gallery, and V&A. He has published on 19th- and early 20th-century paintings and historical vocal recordings. His latest book is Music Wars: 1937–1945.
