Sunday 11.02.2024

Summary

Roland Hayes, Marian Anderson and Dorothy Maynor were among the first African-American singers to forge distinguished careers in the classical field. Denied the opportunity to sing on the operatic stage, their work was confined to concert halls and recording studios until Anderson’s breakthrough performance at the Met at the very end of her career.
